One of the nice things about Windows is that you can have multiple windows and programs open at once. When you have Customer Maintenance open, for example, and you want to go to Preferences, don't close down Customer Maintenance...just minimize it. This way it is still loaded when you are ready to go into it again. You can have many windows open at once. This will make the program easier and faster to use.
Setup some smart keys! In Preferences you have many available key combinations to use for creating smart (shortcut) keys. One suggestion is to setup F5 as Payment. This way when you are entering payments, instead of having to type it out each time.....just hit F5.
In the Status window, you can quickly make some changes. Double-click on the date in order to quickly change it. Double-click on the printer name to quickly select another. Double-click on the file name to close one and open another.
Setup some categories for your customers! You can separate
your customers into categories. You can create as many different
categories as you need. What this will do for you is to allow
you to get reports on just specific groups of customers. Let's
say that you want to call a certain group of your customers to
remind them of something, simply set them up in a specific category
and when you want the list of who to send the letter to, print
out the list of all customers in that category.
